The significance of drapery within the Salon is a procedure that enforces a feeling of safety, comfort, love, and care for the relationship between the Client and Beautician. There are several types of procedures within the Salon and each has a different technique for draping the Client appropriately for the procedure. The tools that are used for draping are: towels, sheets, washcloths, salon capes, spa wraps, body wraps, client gowns, dot wraps, shampoo capes, vests, smocks, headbands, bath robes, aprons, cover-ups and shower caps. All of these forms of drapery within the Salon are for different areas of the body and will create a different feeling for the Client based on the material that the drapery is made of as well as how we as the Beautician wrap the Client with the drapery. Draping a Client should be fun and connect you with the Client by showing your desire to keep the Client safe, warm and relaxed while they are in your care.

As a Beautician, it is our responsibility to acknowledge the type of procedure that we are about to do on a Client and choose the drapery that is best suited to assure the best care to the Client during the procedure. It is also good to know that each Salon may have a different set of guidelines for their draping procedures. The main reason for this blog is to explain the reason for draping Clients and to express the importance to use proper drapery for the safety of our Clients. Drapery is used to protect Clients from chemical spills as well as keep them protected for chemical services. Another type of service that you need to drape a Client is massages. A Client will always appreciate when you go above and beyond to assure their comfort and safety during draping procedures. Happy is healthy and it is important to build a foundation of positive work ethics to keep the Client enjoying our efforts to help them feel beautiful and pampered.
