There are 3 types of hair wig hair meant for making a wig. The 3 types are: synthetic, human and heat friendly synthetic. The 3 types all have their own features and can do different things. It is not necessary to choose one over the other because they are all unique in their own way. However, the features may help you to choose the hair that you would like to use. Here is a list of the features and some guidelines to remember when choosing the hair that you will use:

Synthetic Hair

Synthetic Hair

1) Made to look like human hair, but is made of plastic fiber that is often cheaper than human hair.

2) The colors in the synthetic hair are not easily going to fade. They are made using a process that is similar to textile dying and color fade is slim to none.

3) There are multiple color and texture options, which include: curls, waves, straight, etc.

4) The style that is set on a wig made f synthetic hair will not lose its style on a hot/humid day.

5) Will last 1-6 months with possibility of more depending on if you properly care for your wig.

6) Do not do any styling on a wig made of synthetic hair.

7) Do not heat or blow dry a wig made with synthetic hair.

8) To care for a wig made of synthetic hair, use a synthetic shampoo and conditioner to make sure that it is properly washed. Doing so may make your wig last longer.

9) Will not dye from it's natural color.

Heat Friendly Synthetic Hair

1) You can use up to 350 Degrees F on heat friendly synthetic hair.

2) This hair will last 1-6 months.

3) Use a heat friendly synthetic shampoo and conditioner to wash this hair.

4) when curling, always make sure that hair is completely dry before removing the curlers

Human Hair

1) Human hair is said to look more realistic than synthetic.

2) Human hair can be colored and handle heat (irons, blow dryers, etc)

3) You must reset and restyle a wig that is made of human hair after washing it.

4) A human hair wig will last 1-36 months.
