Today I would like to share my expertise on the topic of wig making, which will also include my advanced advisory about proper wig cleaning. I thank you for reading my blog and hope that this advise will help you both educationally and to enjoy a clear perspective with information that will engage you with an interest and appreciation for the History and development of wigs. I will be talking about wig history, tools, procedures, cleaning and then I will explain some of the products that I recommend every wig maker to try! Wig making is an important and exciting feature of advancing a person's beauty to keep them feeling happy. There are a lot of great products to learn and be creative with when making a wig for someone!

I will begin with the historical information about wigs. Wigs have been being made for a long time and are not just a modern developed hobby. They have a long history of tradition that began back around 3,000 years ago in Ancient Egypt. The purposes of wigs then was to keep heads protected from the sun, but eventually once wigs became more modern- they developed the purposes for social rank, cosmetic purposes and to help those that are balding to be more comfortable with a nice wig to make their aesthetic flaws less visible in public. The wigs that poor people wore in Ancient times of Egypt were made of mare and the wealthy were made wigs of human hair and fiber from palm trees. The materials and practices of wigs has evolved miraculously within the 3,000 dated years of it's existence and people love their wigs as well as making them!

The oldest method for making wigs was to weave hair around silk warps and form a weft. Then the wefts would be attached to a foundation. The foundations are made from net, silk or other materials. The modern method for wig making is a bit different and was originated in France during the 19th Century by wig making guilds. With the modern procedure, the hair is directly woven into the foundation material and they are often flesh colored. The modern wig is made with a ventilating needle and this process creates a snug wig that will fit to the head well and appear to be more natural than the ones from the oldest method that used the weft method. Either way is a great choice to enjoy creativity and have a nice wig to keep us beautiful!

A full, custom-fitted, hand-tied, human-haired wig will take 4-8 weeks to make and will earn between $2,000 and $4,000. Below is the manufacture process for making a wig:
